Fitness Testing week!!


K-8th graders have started their fitness testing this week.  We follow FitnessGram guidelines and we want our students to perform their PERSONAL BEST.  

Students should be drinking lots of water and eating a healthful breakfast each and every morning.

Fitness Friday!


We will have another Fitness Friday coming up!  Students will have the chance to become acquainted with stations, activities, and skills we will visit throughout the year.  These stations will improve skills and also relate to the 5 components of fitness:

Cardiovascular Endurance
Muscular Strength
Muscular Endurance
Flexibility
Body Composition

*Athletic sneakers that tie

SAFETY is our biggest concern! Therefore it is extremely important to follow the rules.

*Follow directions the first time given

*Speak only with permission

*Keep hands, feet, body and objects to yourself

*Come prepared with all needed materials

*Do not leave gym unless given permission

*NO Jewelry is to be worn in the gym at any time
(It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of their own items)

*No food, gum, phones in gym

Written Unit Assessments – 25%

Students will be required to take a pre and post-test on critical areas within Physical Education. The areas the written assessment will include are as follows:
·       Character Education, Physical cues within sport and skill, Personal & Social Responsibility, and lifetime fitness and wellness.
Students will take tests that best measures their cognitive abilities on the subject matter cover in any particular unit.

Students will be assessed on various sport related skills in each unit of instruction.

Welcome Back to the 2015-2016 School Year!


Welcome Back!! We have some new, but GREAT changes happening in Physical Education this year!

BPS 43 Lovejoy Discovery School will now have 3 Physical Education teachers! That means more time in the gymnasium.  Not only is Mr. Fleming still here, we've added Ms. Barone and Mr. Moonan.

We have a feeling this will be a wonderful year and we can't wait to get started with our cooperative games unit!

Please make sure you are prepared every day with sneakers.
